The longevity of certain tarantula species is truly remarkable, especially for female individuals. While many spiders have fleeting lives, some female tarantulas can thrive for decades, with reports of certain species living up to 30 years, and even some Oklahoma brown tarantulas reaching 40 years in captivity. This significant difference in lifespan between the sexes can be attributed to several fascinating biological and behavioral factors.
