The United States achieved a historic performance at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, securing 12 gold medals. This remarkable tally set a new record for the most gold medals won by the U.S. in the history of the Winter Games, surpassing their previous high of 10 gold medals from the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics.

The XXV Olympic Winter Games, officially known as Milano Cortina 2026, took place across various sites in Lombardy and Northeast Italy from February 6 to February 22, 2026. Competition in selected events even began a few days earlier, on February 4. This marked the first time the Olympic Games were officially co-hosted by two cities, Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo.

Team USA's success was widespread, with gold medals coming from a variety of disciplines. Notable victories included Breezy Johnson in women's downhill skiing, Alysa Liu in women's figure skating, and Jordan Stolz, who captured two gold medals in men's speed skating events. The U.S. also saw gold medal performances from their men's and women's ice hockey (Deals) teams, the figure skating team, and the mixed team aerials squad, among others. Overall, the U.S. team earned a total of 33 medals, placing them second in both total and gold medals, and medaling in 11 of the 16 sport disciplines, demonstrating a broad spectrum of athletic excellence.
