In the acclaimed 1993 political satire DAVE, Kevin Kline masterfully portrays two men who are physically identical but morally opposite. He plays the cold and distant U.S. President Bill Mitchell, as well as Dave Kovic, a warm-hearted temp agency owner who happens to be his perfect double. When the real president suffers a debilitating stroke, his corrupt chief of staff hires Dave as a temporary stand-in, only to find that the kind-hearted imposter is a far better leader and human being than the man he replaced. Klineโ€™s ability to create two distinct, believable personalities is central to the film's charm and success.

Just four years later, Kline took on another dual role in the 1997 comedy FIERCE CREATURES. Here, he plays both the vulgar, domineering media tycoon Rod McCain and his sniveling, incompetent son, Vince. The film, a spiritual successor to A Fish Called Wanda, reunites Kline with John Cleese, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Michael Palin in a chaotic story about saving a zoo from corporate greed. Klineโ€™s challenge was different this time, creating a dysfunctional father-son dynamic where he had to act against himself, embodying both the overbearing patriarch and the son desperate for his approval.
