While the album *Let It Be* was the final one released by the Fab Four in 1970, it is not the last one they recorded. The tense and difficult sessions for that project took place in early 1969 and were ultimately shelved. Unhappy with that work and wanting to end their incredible run on a high note, the band regrouped with producer George Martin that summer for one last collaborative effort. The result was a polished and cohesive masterpiece, consciously crafted as their true artistic farewell.
Named for the street where London's EMI Studios was located, the album's legendary cover art features the four band members on the nearby zebra crossing. The studio itself was even renamed Abbey Road Studios in the album's honor. Musically, it is celebrated for George Harrison's timeless contributions "Something" and "Here Comes the Sun," as well as the iconic medley on Side Two that weaves together several unfinished songs into a grand finale. This deliberate, masterful album was the last time all four Beatles worked together in the studio.
