This small Ozark mountain town has rightfully earned its title as the "Nashville of the Ozarks." Despite having a year-round population of less than 4,000 people, the city draws an astonishing four to five million visitors annually. The main attraction is its incredible density of live entertainment venues. More than two dozen theaters line the famous Highway 76 Country Music Boulevard, also known as "The Strip," offering a staggering variety of shows with a heavy emphasis on country music.

The town's transformation into an entertainment hub began in the late 1950s and early 1960s with pioneering family shows like the Baldknobbers Jamboree and Presley's Country Jubilee. The Presley family (no relation to Elvis) built the very first theater on The Strip in 1967, paving the way for dozens more. While country music remains its foundation (Review), the town's offerings have since expanded to include comedy, magic, gospel, and tribute acts, solidifying its reputation as a major family-friendly tourist destination. National attention surged after a 1991 feature on the news program *60 Minutes*, cementing its place on the American entertainment map.
