John Charles Julian Lennon, born in 1963 to John Lennon and his first wife Cynthia, established a successful music career of his own, particularly in the mid-1980s. His 1984 debut album, *Valotte*, was a critical and commercial success, earning him a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. The album's hit singles, including "Too Late for Goodbyes" and the title track "Valotte," showcased a vocal style that many found strikingly similar to his famous father's.

Beyond his own musical achievements, Julian was the direct inspiration for several of the most famous songs in rock history. Paul McCartney wrote the classic ballad "Hey Jude" to comfort a young Julian during his parents' difficult divorce; the song's original working title was "Hey Jules." John Lennon also wrote two songs for his son: the lullaby "Good Night" from The Beatles' "White Album," and the psychedelic masterpiece "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds," which was inspired by a watercolor painting Julian had made in nursery school.

While his musical output has become more sporadic over the years, Julian has pursued other artistic passions, becoming a respected photographer, author, and philanthropist. He is the older half-brother of Sean Ono Lennon, John's son with Yoko Ono, who is also an accomplished musician.
