Its origin is often attributed to Aesop's Fables, particularly the story of "The Milkmaid and Her Pail," where a milkmaid dreams of the riches her milk will bring, only to spill it all, shattering her premature fantasies. Aesop, an ancient Greek storyteller believed to have lived thousands of years ago, is credited with over 500 moralistic tales, many featuring animals with human-like qualities.
