When German immigrant Adolphus Busch set out to create a new American lager in St. Louis, he looked to Europe for inspiration. He aimed to replicate the light, crisp pilsner-style beers from Bohemia, a region famous for its brewing traditions. In 1876, he named his new creation for the renowned brewing town of Budweis, now called ฤŒeskรฉ Budฤ›jovice in the Czech Republic.
