There's a City Named Batman in Turkey

In southeastern Turkey, a vibrant city bears a name that often sparks curiosity. Once known as Iluh, this settlement underwent a significant transformation and was officially renamed Batman in 1957, taking its new moniker from the nearby Batman River. The origin of the river's name itself is a subject of discussion, with theories suggesting it might be a shortened form of the nearby Bati Raman mountain, or perhaps derived from the Kurdish word "bêhtan" meaning "water." Historically, in antiquity, the river was even known as Kalat, a Syriac word meaning "bride."
