Jason Gould is the only child of two legendary figures in the entertainment industry. His mother is the iconic singer and actress Barbra Streisand, and his father is the acclaimed actor Elliott Gould. The two met in 1962 during a Broadway production and were married from 1963 to 1971. Jason was born in New York City on December 29, 1966, at the height of both of his parents' careers. Growing up in the spotlight, he was even nicknamed "The Million Dollar Baby" by the press when his mother's pregnancy led to the cancellation of a major Las Vegas concert engagement.
His parents' immense fame created a unique upbringing for Gould, who was exposed to the world of film and music from a very young age. He followed in their footsteps, embarking on a career as an actor, appearing in films such as "Say Anything..." and "The Prince of Tides," the latter of which was directed by and starred his mother. He also wrote, directed, and starred in a short film called "Inside Out (Review)," which loosely drew from his own experiences as the gay son of famous parents and even featured his father.
In more recent years, Jason Gould has focused on his music career, a path that has also seen him collaborate with his famous mother. He released a debut EP in 2012 and has since toured with Streisand, even recording a duet with her for her 2014 album "Partners". Despite the pressures of having a celebrated vocalist for a mother, he has successfully forged his own identity as a singer and songwriter. His parents, though divorced for many years, have remained connected through their son.
