Which country won Euro 2024, defeating England 2-1 in the final to claim their record fourth European Championship?

Spain cemented their place in football history by claiming the UEFA Euro 2024 title, triumphing over England with a decisive 2-1 victory in the final match. This historic win, which unfolded at the Olympiastadion in Berlin, Germany on July 14, 2024, marked Spain's record-breaking fourth European Championship, making them the most successful nation in the tournament's history. The final itself was a tense affair, with Nico Williams opening the scoring for Spain in the second half, followed by an equalizer from England's Cole Palmer. However, Mikel Oyarzabal delivered the winning goal for Spain in the 86th minute, securing the coveted trophy.

This victory was particularly impressive as Spain navigated the entire tournament with a perfect record, winning all seven of their matches, a feat not achieved since France in 1984. They also set a new record for the most goals scored in a single European Championship, with fifteen. The tournament showcased a blend of experienced players and emerging talents for Spain, with Rodri earning the Player of the Tournament award and the then 16-year-old Lamine Yamal being named the UEFA Young Player of the Tournament, highlighting the bright future of Spanish football.

For England, the final represented a second consecutive loss in the European Championship final, a truly heartbreaking outcome for fans hoping to end a long wait for a major international trophy. Despite their resilience throughout the competition, they ultimately fell short against a dominant Spanish side. Spain's triumph in 2024 adds to their previous European Championship victories in 1964, 2008, and 2012, solidifying their legacy as a powerhouse in international football.
